Help us make a greener campus

Plan-it wild and join us throughout October for a month of Wildflower planting

Before the weather gets too cold and we all find reasons to stay indoors, we’ve planned a whole month of volunteering for you to get outside and help create wildflower habitats all over the University.

You told us you wanted to see a greener campus; so we went away and identified five sites we thought could do with some flower power! Each week in October, we’ll be holding an event open to all where you can help rake and seed the land. Great habitats still need planning so let's Plan-it Wild!

The times have been chosen so that both staff and students can take part and the sites have been chosen to have the best possible impact on the University and local community. Creating these areas takes time and we’d like to thank our Gardens Team for their support.

We’re officially partnering with Urban Buzz Leicester as part of Buglife’s aim to create more pollinator hotspots in cities and towns. They'll be providing us with all our wildflower seeds, equipment and will be joining us for an event or two to share bug expertise.

However, these projects wouldn’t have been given the kick-start they needed without your feedback. We hope you’ll have fun, learn some and see the results of your hard work next spring!
