A new collaboration between the University and Students’ Union sees a new approach and brand for catering and retail across the institution.

Here for U is a new venture which has been agreed between the University and the Students’ Union. It has been created to co-ordinate operations and deliver a consistent customer service experience as well as providing inspirational spaces to eat, drink, relax, reflect, learn and socialise.

This is the first collaboration of its kind in the UK and aims to put customers at the forefront of all our thinking and to provide high quality fresh and local foods, professional and friendly service and develop engaging spaces for all staff, students and visitors to the university.

Many of you will have already seen signs and have picked up a ‘U card’ which replaces the Le Card as a way to both pay for and gain loyalty points on a range of food and drink. You will be able to use the U Card across all our catering and retail outlets (listed below). There is also an app you can download to keep track of your U Card account and make payments. More information is available on the catering webpages.

Trevor Page, who was Chief Executive of the Union, has been appointed as the Chief Executive of Here for U. The Students’ Union has appointed Mr Ceri Davis as an interim Chief Executive of the Union and he has taken charge of its operations until a permanent appointment is made.

Trevor said: “Here for U will enrich and support the members of the university community by developing innovative, social learning spaces that feeds the mind and not just the body.”

Trevor will lead the two catering and retail teams and develop strategies to provide one collaborative team delivering a world class customer-focused service. He will manage all the University and Union catering and retail operations, working closely with colleagues across the institution, and report directly to the Director of Finance, Martyn Riddleston.

Martyn Riddleston commented, “We believe that this is the first partnership of its kind in the UK and is a sign of the University and the Union’s commitment to exceptional services to the whole University community.”

Rachel Holland, The Union President and Chair of the Board of Trustees said, “We are very excited about this project as it will create an integrated strategy for customer-focused services across the campus.”
