Get Yammering

If you’re not on the University’s Yammer network yet, then why not give it a go.

Creating community at the University is important. We all have our water coolers and kitchens where we can liaise with colleagues, and many of us use the cafes where we can liaise with people outside our areas.

Get the insights of your colleagues, wherever they are

But how do you network and get the insight of colleagues from other areas quickly and easily? That’s where Yammer comes in. While it looks like a social media site, it’s based around a group structure, so you can choose the subjects that you’re interested in and join the conversation.

A huge range of groups

There are a number of different uses, you can consult colleagues on a problem, you can get involved on our work to create a Digital Campus, get insights from our Planning Team, you can also find out more about what we’re doing about the impending exit of the UK from the EU.

It can also be used as a news feed, the this group provides updates from our estates team, this one lets you know about the latest staff health and wellbeing activities, and the ULT group allows you to see the notes and video from and presentations given by our leadership team.

There's also the social side, and you can advertise items for sale, find out more about staff social activities, and there are a range of special interest groups, from cycling and walking to LGBT issues and social impact.

Get involved

Just head to Yammer and search for your area of interest, and if it isn’t there then just start and group and invite your colleagues.

If you have any issues or would like some more information about how to use Yammer then get in touch with Ross Tarbard in Internal Communications.
