GDPR Spring Clean Week – 16-20 April

To help support our commitments to disposing of information we no longer require we're holding a GDPR Spring Clean Week.

Under the General Data Protection Regulation the University should not hold personal data if it is no longer required for the purposes it was collected for. This might include information on staff or students who never came to work or study at the University.

During the Spring Clean week commencing the 16 April we're asking all divisions and departments to set some time aside within their teams to review the files they hold to ensure that any that are no longer required are disposed of.

When doing this do make use of our existing guidance on reviewing your files and consult the University Retention Schedules to ensure you are only disposing of information that can legitimately be destroyed.

Please bag up any files that can be destroyed and ensure these are locked away securely. These will be collected by our supplier ShredPro in the coming weeks.

If you need more information on this, or if you are unsure about what can be destroyed contact the Records Management Services on
