Do you have an individual or collaborative research idea?

The Leicester Institute for Advanced Studies (LIAS) is an interdisciplinary centre of excellence. Dedicated to creating a collaborative and inspiring environment, it brings together researchers from across all disciplines to deliver ambitious, transformative, and impactful research.

The Leicester Institute for Advanced Studies is pleased to pre-announce the commissioning of three new calls aimed at stimulating the University’s interdisciplinary environment.

LIAS Visiting Fellowships

The LIAS Visiting Fellowship scheme aims to attract leading researchers to Leicester, to carry out a significant programme of interdisciplinary. This round of the scheme offers up to three months of Fellowship funding (including travel and accommodation costs.)

Fellowships for this round must start no later than the end of June 2018.

The LIAS Research Networks scheme is intended to support forums for new collaboration, discussion, and exchange of ideas on a specified thematic area, issue or research challenge. Networks may apply for up to £15,000 per year for up to two years.

Tiger teams

Through our funded tiger teams, we aim to break down the silos that have traditionally been a feature of higher education research, enabling academics to explore new, highly innovative ideas, and to stimulate increased ambition. Tiger teams may apply for up to £5,000 for up to six months.

The formal launch of calls will be announced by the end of February. In the interim prospective applicants are strongly advised to consult College Research Directors and/or the LIAS team; Lisa Smith, Director or Di Levine, Institute Manager and Fellow.
