As a result of the creation of the College of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities, there are a number of changes being made to the group of College Directors of Administration.

The Director of Administration role has been re-designated as Director of Operations, to bring it more into line with sector-wide practice and to reflect the continuing evolution of the role.

Ruth Daly, currently on secondment as Director of Administration for the College of Social Science, will have her secondment extended to become Director of Operations for the new combined College of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities from 1 August 2015.

Dawn Kemp, currently Director of Administration for the College of Arts, Humanities and Law, will become Director of Operations for the College of Medicine, Biological Sciences and Psychology, following Nigel Siesage’s flexible retirement on 30 September 2015.  Nigel will be staying with the University on a part-time basis, leading a range of strategic projects. August/September will be handover months whilst roles change across the colleges.

Becky Johnson, previously Director of Administration for the College of Social Science, will remain in her current post as Director of Strategic Projects, on a permanent basis.

Geoff Green, currently Director of Administration for the College of Science and Engineering, will move full-time into the post of Director of Policy, Planning and Change from 1 August 2015. The post of Director of Operations for Science and Engineering will be advertised internally soon.

The Director of Operations roles will retain their existing accountability to the Heads of College and Registrar and Secretary. Geoff Green will, as part of his full-time role, take on a line management role for these posts. This will help to facilitate cross-College co-ordination and communication in relation to the professional services during this time of significant change.
