Changes to staff Insider

You may have noticed some differences to the staff Insider this week, please let us know your thoughts about the changes we're making.

Following extensive staff and student research, we have decided to make some changes to the staff Insider. Feedback has shown to us that though Insider was seen as a very important tool for getting information about the University to staff, it was too long, and there was too much information in there that wasn't relevant to people. You can read our staff research report here (behind log-in).

As a result of this feedback, we have been working on introducing a new format for Insider that was simpler, easier to understand, but still gave you the same great content that made Insider so useful for many people.

So what's changed? You may have noticed a reduction in the amount of links over the past few months. In doing this we were paving the way for changes to the structure of Insider, so the changes didn't come as too much of a shock. We now have three sections

  • University announcements: These are the key bits of information that we'd like you to know about this week. Whether it's important news, a new event, or just something fantastic that's happened on and off campus, if you only skim-read Insider, make sure you pay attention to this bit.
  • Staff news: This section is all about celebrating your success, whether it's a fantastic new grant, involvement in important national work, or simply recognising outstanding achievement, this is where it goes
  • Upcoming events: exactly what it says. We'll highlight some of the key events happening on and off campus in the next few weeks and provide a link through to the main university events calendar

What's missing? Unfortunately we can't include everything, but we will provide links every week through to the Staff Development pages, IT news, Estates news. Anything new or really worth bringing to your attention will be included within the main announcements, so please make sure that you check on Staff Announcements and the Newsblog regularly to get the full picture of what's going on.

We will be attempting to get this out regularly on a Wednesday, so will be enforcing a deadline of end of the day Tuesday for the submission of any completed articles. We add new stories and announcements throughout the week, so these will always be available on the staff pages.
