Caroline Quest, currently the Director of Enterprise and Business Development, has taken up the new role of Director of Research and Enterprise.

The University of Leicester is proud of being a research intensive university and with a new institutional strategy to be launched in September, we have a strong ambition to increase our current levels of research income.

To deliver these ambitious research objectives, we have merged the Research Support and Enterprise and Business Development Offices into a newly formed Division of Research and Enterprise.

We are expanding the quality and quantity of support and services we offer to our academics and are investing in several posts to achieve this. The team will continue to work closely with the Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research and Enterprise.

Professor Paul Boyle, President and Vice-Chancellor, said: "The work Caroline and her team have done to develop our enterprise activities has impressed me greatly. The new team will bring together our strong expertise in the research and enterprise areas, providing a consistent approach in these important related areas."

Caroline Quest said: "The new Division and additional resources will be deployed to support our academics in realising our research potential. With professional services colleagues, we will improve research support services, adding value to our academics’ research efforts.

"Supporting our academic leadership in strategy development and implementation, preparations for the next REF, and funder and stakeholder relationships, we hope to make rapid progress in improving research income levels and performance. We will also strive to build on our success over the last couple of years in enterprise performance. The research and enterprise agendas are complementary and the new Division will reflect and capitalise on this."
