We are seeking to appoint a senior academic colleague to lead and direct our new Education Excellence programme.

The Education Excellence programme will bring together and give greater focus to a range of activities and projects underway in four primary areas relating to the undergraduate student experience.

  • Assessment: working with programme teams to implement the new assessment strategy;
  • Feedback: working with discipline teams to develop and implement a feedback policy in all schools and departments for provision of feedback to students;
  • Retention & Attainment: tackling the particular retention challenge we have for mature and disabled students, and the attainment gap for BAME students;
  • Student Voice: partnership working with the Students’ Union, and implementation of a new approach to module evaluation across the University.

The aim of the programme is to transform our institutional approaches and secure an outstanding educational experience for our students.  In so doing, the programme will also have a direct positive impact on the University’s TEF position – we are currently rated silver but have an aspiration to achieve gold when we re-submit in three years’ time.

Significant resources have been made available to support the programme, and Dawn Kemp has been appointed to provide senior professional services leadership as Programme Manager working in partnership with the Director.

The Director role is available immediately as a three year appointment, and is offered on the basis of buy-out from departmental duties at a level of 0.6FTE.  If you are interested in taking on this exciting and challenging role, please get in touch with me to discuss further.  Applications should include a short letter outlining what you would bring to the role and a short CV.

Applications should be submitted via the HR recruitment system LINK, by midnight on Monday 27 November.
