Apply by October 30 2016 for funding to teach or train in Europe, New Zealand, South Africa or Azerbaijan

The Erasmus+ Scheme offers grants to university staff to go abroad for between 2 and 60 days. You can apply to go to any Erasmus+ Programme Country, and it can be with a University, or, if you are interested in training opportunities, with an enterprise.

We are also happy to announce that, thanks to new partnerships set up through Erasmus+, we have limited openings for both staff training and teaching exchanges in New Zealand, South Africa and Azerbaijan. These are institution specific, with partnerships set up for teaching or training at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand, Rhodes University in South Africa or Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University in Azerbaijan.

There are three types of exchanges possible:

Teaching Exchange

This is open to members of academic staff. You must teach a minimum of 8 hours per week or part thereof.

“My visit to Leipzig was hugely enjoyable. It was great to experience teaching and research culture in a different environment and to talk about institutional challenges and differences” - Dr David Clark, School of English

Training Exchange

This is open to academic and non-academic staff alike. Training can be related to any area relevant to your role, and can include job-shadowing.

“The Erasmus Staff mobility scheme has allowed me to spend one week at a collaborator's lab in Barcelona to discuss and learn new techniques to bring back to Leicester. The application process is straightforward, the response was quick and the support staff were very helpful…” - Ana Verissimo, PhD, Department of Cardiovascular Sciences

Combined Teaching and Training Exchange

This is a new feature of Erasmus+; it combines the two options above and is open to academic staff who will be teaching abroad and also attending a training session or job shadowing.

Please note that Erasmus+ funding does not cover any attendance fees for training courses, nor can it be used for attending conferences.
