When do you need to think about RDM

You need to think about data management as early as possible and throughout the research lifecycle. Data management is not a single task to be ticked off at any particular part of the research process, and is integral to the process of conducting research.

The research data lifecycle

This website uses the simplified Create-Organise-Keep-Find and Share cycle and is structured to reflect this. Aspects of research data management are associated with each of these phases and throughout the research process either as one-off tasks, iterative steps, or as on-going issues.

This structure is similar to some other university research data management websites, and to the UK Data Archive Data Lifecycle.

Similarly the University of Bath Research360 Institutional Research Lifecycle depicts the research process.
