Download a recording

When is it useful to download?

Not all Reflect recordings will be shared in Blackboard. In some cases you may need to share them with a wider audience, maybe including people who are not University staff or students, or put the link on a website. This may apply if you have recorded events such as staff training or visiting speakers, or if you are making recordings for prospective students who do not yet have an account. You may also choose to download a podcast of your lecture and make this available to students.

In this situation you would need to download the recording from Reflect and upload it to a video sharing site such as YouTube.

Download recordings

Find the recording

  1. Login to Blackboard and open your course site. Click Panopto video in the menu on the left. (Alternatively you can login to https://leicester.cloud.panopto.eu to find your recording.)
  2. Find the recording to download
  3. Move your mouse over the recording and click Share in the options that appear
    Share option

Choose the format to download

Click Outputs on the left of the screen

Upload to YouTube

You may decide to upload your video to YouTube, if this is appropriate in your case. To do this:

  1. Login to YouTube
  2. Click Upload
  3. Choose the Privacy for the video:
    1. Public - anyone can search for and watch the video
    2. Unlisted - anyone can watch the video from the link, but it does not show up in search results
    3. Private - the video can only be seen by you and selected users
  4. Select the file to upload.

For more information on how to upload videos to YouTube, including details of the privacy settings, see YouTube’s help pages.
