Self-Funded and Sponsored Applicants
Step 1 Read the course description and make sure that we offer supervision in the area in which you want to work.
Step 2

Follow the advice in the course description and check whether you need to provide a research proposal or a personal statement.

If you need to provide a research proposal, please read the research proposal guidance.

Step 3

Prepare your supporting documents - with your application you need to include proof that you meet the academic entry requirements and the English language entry requirements.

Please note that:

  • you should include all relevant certificates/diplomas and transcripts
  • international applicants must provide official copies of their entire course transcripts including explanations of the mark schemes used and, where possible, an indication of their class ranking/position in class
  • supporting documents that are not in English must be provided with a certified English translation
Step 4

For Campus Based and Distance Learning Programmes you should submit your Application online. You will be able to include / upload your research proposal/personal statement, and supporting documents during the application process.

If you are unable to submit an application online please contact pgradmissions@le.ac.uk for further advice.

Step 5

The application form allows you add the contact details of your Academic Referees  - once you submit your application your referees will automatically receive a reference request from us by email.  Alternatively if you already have letters of reference you can upload these to the reference section of the online application.

Applicants must provide two academic (not personal) references from people who can comment on your suitability for the research degree programme; please follow the advice in the application form on how to submit your references.
