If you are a man with an abdominal aortic aneurysm that has been found in one of the NHS AAA screening programmes in England or Wales and want to join the study you can find out more information about what would be involved and how to join the study here.

The Study does not have approval to recruit men who live in Scotland.  We are in the process of doing this, but this is not yet approved. This page will be updated once approvals are in place for Scotland.

If you are already a participant in the study and have a query on something we have sent to you, please email us. Click here to go to email.

If you have a health query related to your aneurysm your GP is the best person to contact.  This website is monitored by non medical personnel.

Welcome to the UKAGS Website.  This website is intended to act as an information resource for men who have been diagnosed with an Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) and for healthcare professionals looking for more information about the Study.

The United Kingdom Aneurysm Growth Study (UKAGS) is a comprehensive clinical and laboratory study of the growth of small abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA), funded by a grant from the British Heart Foundation. The Study started in October 2013 and through this study more detailed information about why and how aneurysms occur and grow will be found out, potentially leading to alternative ways to care for patients with AAA or even drug treatments for small aneurysms - and avoiding the need for surgery in those with AAA.

Recruitment to the study will take place over five years and will involve up to 20,000 participants.

To find out more about the study please click on the links listed on the left hand side of your screen.

To find more information about AAA please click the links on the right hand side in the 'AAA Related Websites' box.

If you have any concerns or questions about the Study you are most welcome to contact us by clicking here.
