Conference: Key Cultural Texts in Translation, 29-30 April 2014

The conference will be the culmination of the AHRC-funded Key Cultural Texts in Translation project, which aims to enhance our understanding of the changes that linguistic and other symbolic representations of identity undergo in translation across times, spaces and media.

Book launch: 'A sky of blood and ashes: Piotr Rawicz and the loneliness of the witness' by Dr Anny Dayan Rosenman and Dr Fransiska Louwagie

The Wiener Library is pleased to be hosting the UK launch of a new book co-edited by Anny Dayan Rosenman and Fransiska Louwagie. Un ciel de sang et de cendres: Piotr Rawicz et la solitude du témoin (A sky of blood and ashes: Piotr Rawicz and the loneliness of the witness) is a study of Ukrainian-French Holocaust survivor Piotr Rawicz and his novel Le sang du ciel (translated as Blood from the Sky), after: Wiener Library.

ASMCF Annual Conference 2013: Renegotiating social divisions in France and the Francophone world

Ethnicity, austerity and recession in Glasgow - new report co-authored by network member

In February 2013 the Coalition for Racial Equality and Rights commissioned a research team led by Dr Filip Sosenko (Heriot-Watt University) to conduct a ‘snapshot’ of the views and experiences of Glasgow residents from Black and minority ethnic backgrounds regarding the current period of recession and austerity.

The Leicester Migration Series: Events

The Leicester Migration Series is a collaboration between the College of Arts, Humanities and Law and the Leicester Migration Network. As part of the College's Research Wednesday seminar series, five sessions will be devoted to current research being carried out within the university on the topic of migration. Each session will be held in Attenborough LR111, from 1-2pm.

November 7 2012 'Our Leicester' event held

Young people in Leicester explored their experiences of multiculturalism and its challenges at a University of Leicester social sciences event. ‘Our Leicester’: Understanding a Multicultural City featured a series of workshops and an instant survey. The participating young people put together a Youth Manifesto for a successful multicultural city that was presented to the deputy city mayor, councillor Rory Palmer.
