I am interested in human genetic diversity and how it can be used to understand past population histories, including the impact of migrations. Our genetic studies have focused on migrations of the last few thousand years, including the influence of North African and Sephardic Jewish presence in the Iberian peninsula, signatures of Indian origins among the European Roma, Scandinavian sex-biased admixture among Greenlandic Inuit, and the Viking migrations to the British Isles.

I am a co-PI in the multidisciplinary Impact of Diasporas on the Making of Britain programme, which includes historians, archaeologists, linguists, place-names scholars, and social psychologists.
