Doctorate title
Exploring the experience of Polish interpreters who translate for mental health professionals: An Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis.

Research Interests
Complex emotional reactions may arise within psychotherapy and this can have an effect on the interpreters own wellbeing. Despite interpreters being exposed to significant client distress, little attention has been paid to the impact of mental health interpreting on the well-being of interpreters themselves.

It is hoped that my research will help stakeholders understand how interpreters from Poland experience their role. Previous research relating to this topic has focussed on asylum seekers and refugees. The current study differs from previous research as it specifically focuses on interpreters of economic migrants within NHS services.

I’m also interested in community psychology, participative action research and how social factors influence mental health (services and individuals).
