Raising public awareness of genetics in science and society is an integral part of the GENIE CETL. For decades many members of the Department of Genetics have been outreach active. The GENIE CETL, which is based within the Department of Genetics, has expanded the genetics outreach substantially and has created a well-established and varied outreach programme, led by GENIE’s Outreach and Public Engagement Coordinator Dr Cas Kramer. We have developed a range of activities for all ages (from key stage 2 to Adult Education classes) which can delivered here at the University of Leicester or perhaps at your school or college. GENIE works closely with the University's Widening Participation team, the Outreach teams of the Departments of Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics and Astronomy and the Centre for Interdisciplinary Science, as well as CALMAST, CELS, EUSEA, Primary Partnerships, Society of Biology and many others.
