18/12/14 - Dr Cas Kramer receives Widening Participation Award

We’re delighted to report that Dr Cas Kramer has received an award for his involvement in designing and delivering Widening Participation and Outreach Programmes.

The award was presented to Cas at The University of Leicester’s Widening Participation Summit that took place at College Court on the 18th December, 2014. The event, which aimed to raise the profile of the university’s nationally-renowned work on widening participation, was opened by President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Paul Boyle, with the keynote address delivered by Professor Les Ebdon, Director of Fair Access.

Cas’s award was in recognition of his excellent and sustained contribution to broadening educational opportunity among students from less advantaged backgrounds.


10/12/14 - Dr Mark Goodwin works alongside the British Council in Bangladesh

Dr Mark Goodwin of GENIE travelled to Bangladesh in March, June and December 2014 as part of a British Council project to work with the University Grants Commission to develop the teaching and learning capacity of higher education in Bangladesh. A number of Centres of Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETLs) have been established in selected Bangladesh universities and, over time, these Centres will act as a hub to support similar initiatives in neighbouring universities.


21/10/14 - GENIE CETL Director Professor Annette Cashmore receives honarary degree from Newman University.

Professor Annette Cashmore, Director of the GENIE CETL, was recently honoured by Newman University, Birmingham, with the award of an honorary Doctor of Education degree.  She received the award at Symphony Hall, Birmingham for services to higher education.
Professor Cashmore has had a long association with Newman University having been a member of their Governing body and more recently a Member of Council for over ten years. Full article.
