Having completed his undergraduate degree in Pharmacology and a PhD, both at the University of Manchester, Colin joined our Department of Genetics as a Research Associate in 2004. His formal involvement with GENIE began in 2007, when he joined us to carry out pedagogic research looking at the delivery of small group teaching on a large scale, and to work on a project looking at the modern student experience in Higher Education. Colin has always enjoyed being involved in outreach and in 2010, working with Dr Aneela Majid, he established the successful GENIE Public Engagement Lecture series. Again in collaboration with Aneela, he also co-edits the GENIE newsletter.
Alongside and complementing his work with GENIE, Colin has maintained an active career in scientific research, focussing in recent years on the impacts of medical and dietary exposures and their relevance to the development of cancer.
