Asriah Mardiyyaningsih

Asriah graduated from the Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia with a BSc in Biology. She began her academic career as an instructor for biology on the Biology Education Study Programme at Universitas Tanjungpura. Asriah began to develop an interest on pedagogy during her role as both instructor and researcher in biology education. This interest lead to Asriah pursuing a masters degree in Biology Education from Universitas Malang, Indonesia. Asriahs’s specific interest in pedagogy is “conceptual understanding” and the development of learning tools for assisting students to acquire this understanding. She received a sponsorship from Ministry of Research, Science and Higher Education of Indonesia to continue her study in the related theme.

Asriah is currently undertaking a PhD, based within joined the GENIE-CETL of University of Leicester, to further study the development of learning resources and approaches in promoting conceptual understanding in Genetics.
