Welcome

The mission for G-STEP is to promote the use of satellite, aerial and ground monitoring Earth Observation data in order to improve regional competitiveness.  Whether you just need a single image to illustrate an idea or a whole portfolio to prove a concept, G-STEP can help you access existing free software to process data to provide images and products unique to your business.

About G-STEP

G-STEP is the GMES (Global Monitoring for Environment and Security) – Space Technology Exchange Partnership. It is the first Copernicus (formerly GMES) accelerator initiative in the UK; visit the Copernicus page for more information on G-STEP within the context of Copernicus. G-STEP was launched on the 19th June 2009 to support business and public sector organisations in the use of state-of-the-art earth observation information technology. The exploitation of this technology will have a major impact on business operations and competitiveness.

The G-STEP team is a collaboration between core G-STEP innovation team and the University of Leicester’s Earth Observation (EO) and Geographical Information System (GIS) experts, providing access to world renowned cutting edge Earth Observation research. G-STEP has a small team of full-time dedicated staff to facilitate the interface between the University of Leicester’s earth observation expertise and the needs of businesses, especially SME’s, in the East Midlands and beyond. The G-STEP team includes two dedicated scientists who investigate EO and GIS solutions for clients.
