Collaborations

G-STEP (GMES Space and Technology Exchange Partnership) is working with a deverse range of groups assisting with the exploitation of Earth Observation Data.

G-STEP/EADS Astrium

EADS astrium logoIn a joint project with EADS Astrium, G-STEP has provided a preliminary brochure - linked below - on the commercial potential for data streams collected from the AstroSAR-Lite satellite system. Forest monitoring is an area of expertise within the geography department and both Dr K Tansey and Professor H Baltzer are working with Ian Encke   of EADS Astrium to explore the potential of this new system.

G-STEP/BlueSky

G-STEP collaboration BlueskyIn an exciting joint project with local company Bluesky, G-STEP has provided the expertise to automate the mapping of trees using Earth Observation techniques.  G-STEP expertise has used DSM (digital surface modelling) and DTM (digital terrain modelling) to extract height and colour information in an object oriented approach to isolate trees from buildings and other objects in aerial photos.

G-STEP/ABEE Ltd

ABEE LOGOG-STEP is collaborating with the Association of Building Engineers Enterprises Ltd to provide information, training and knowledge exchange around the uses of Earth Observation Data for experts in the building services.  G-STEP has collaborated on a seminar to interested building professionals and will be providing training opportunities for interested members of the profession.

G-STEP/ADAS/BlueSky

G-STEP collaboration ADAS

G-STEP's expertise in mapping trees has  been applied to the ADAS project involving the monitoring of tree condition in vulnerable locations e.g  close to railway lines. In a further extension, G-STEP was able to broker a collaboration between ADAS and  BlueSky in tree mapping using remote sensing expertise.

G-STEP/NEREUS

G-STEP NEREUS

NEREUS is the Network of European Regions Using Space Technologies.  G-STEP collaborates with NEREUS to utilise outreach opportunities in Europe, bringing the European Market to companies in the East Midlands.
