Imaging catheter: a novel apparatus for intravascular or intraluminal deployment of an imaging probe

Principal Investigator: Simon MacDonald
Start date: May 2012

This study aims to develop a novel catheter based system that will permit safer intra-cardiac echocardiography or intravascular imaging during structural heart interventions and electrophysiology, enabling the development of more cost efficient intravascular imaging systems in cardiovascular intervention.

The study, which is being run in collaboration with University of Oxford under international patent, aims to develop the product to CE mark and allow safer structural heart interventions under local anaesthesia without the need for general anaesthesia and more invasive transoesophageal echo.
