Tony Gershlick, Professor of Interventional Cardiology, is the lead author on one of a series of papers published in August’s The Lancet. The paper examines the value of thrombolysis for patients who have had a ST-segment elevated myocardial infarction (STEMI) compared to current approaches such as primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in optimising patient outcome. This reflects his International reputation as a clinical investigator in trials assessing outcomes in patients with acute and chronic coronary artery disease.
