International Students

We are aware that recent media reports, relating to new Home Office powers of enforcement, are causing deep concern amongst EU students.

The reports suggest that EU students who have not obtained comprehensive sickness insurance (CSI) could be liable for deportation.

As these powers are quite new, we cannot yet comment on how stringently they will be enforced. It does appear however, from comments that the Home Office have made in the media, that their intention is not to remove EU students who are not yet covered by CSI. Despite this, the requirement for EU students to have CSI has existed for some time. If you have not yet acquired CSI we would urge you to do so as a matter of urgency.

For more information on CSI please see the information at the UKCISA website.
