About Us

The Student Welfare Service is located in the Charles Wilson Building and provides a practical service designed to meet the needs of all students, including prospective students.

Welfare Officers offer both general and specialist advice on a wide range of issues including finance, leaving care, childcare and benefits.

We also

  • administer applications for Hardship Funds on behalf of the University
  • provide a visa renewal service
  • work closely with the Police, local Councillors, and the Students' Union to ensure that students are safe and secure, and that they appreciate the responsibilities of living in the community

You can access information, advice and guidance through:

  • Appointments
  • Telephone and e-mail consultations
  • Group presentations and workshops
  • Easy to navigate website
  • Paper-based resources
