Division of Human Resources offer the following workshops and online briefings:

Managing Performance, Conduct and Conflict at Work

This is a 2 part course for staff with responsibility for managing a team.

The course gives an overview of the University’s Ordinances, Policies and Procedures, your role and responsibilities and those of HR, as well as providing an opportunity for you to explore and practice practical approaches and techniques when managing conduct, conflict and performance issues that may arise with your staff. The course will look at both informal options for resolving issues, as well as the need to escalate to formal processes using relevant University Ordinances.

The first part of the course is delivered via a Blackboard online course, and the second part is a face to face workshop focusing on practical skills. There are separate workshop sessions for Academic and Research staff and for Professional Services staff. Staff are required to complete the Blackboard course before attending the practical skills workshop.

Health & Wellbeing (Maximising Attendance)

The purpose of this workshop is to provide you with practical advice, share good practice and an opportunity to develop and practice skills in managing sickness absences, having challenging conversations with staff and discuss and explore with fellow delegates different approaches to resolve work situations where there are health issues.  For more information and to book a place on the workshop, please see Health and Wellbeing (Maximising Attendance).

Family Friendly Balance - Managers Workshop

The purpose of this workshop is to promote managers understanding of their role in supporting a positive work life balance, by outlining the main provisions of key family friendly policies through three case studies, please see Family Friendly Balance - Managers Workshop.

Maternity and Shared Parental Leave

This online briefing, available via Blackboard, is primarily aimed at staff who are planning to take a period of Maternity Leave or Shared Parental Leave, but will also be useful for managers who would like to find out more about these topics.
