The phrase “REF2021 is important” is regularly uttered and it is one of the top three priorities for the University. But what is the Research Excellence Framework 2021 and why does it matter so much? This session will explain the background to the REF exercises, clarify the financial and reputational implications, and the timetable, and explore why REF2021 matters so much to academic colleagues. It will be presented by Juliet Bailey and Steve Loddington from the Research Strategy and Policy team in Research and Enterprise Division, two of the people leading the University’s preparations.
