Confidentiality and Data Protection

Appointments and the contents of sessions at the Counselling and Wellbeing Service are kept confidential. In line with professional requirements and good practice, the Counsellors and Mental Health Facilitators will discuss sessions with other counsellors, supervisors and professional colleagues within the Service.

In exceptional circumstances we reserve the right to break confidentiality. These are only where there appears to be a serious and imminent risk to your own or others safety, or if we are made aware of serious illegal activities.

Please ask if you require further clarification on this policy.

The University Counselling & Wellbeing Service works to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) 'Ethical Framework for good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
