Warwick National Fencing Novices Tournament Success

In December 2017, Ben Hart who is part of the very successful University of Leicester Fencing club competed at the Warwick National Novices tournament. Entrants can only compete if they have been fencing for less than two years.

In a field of 71 competitors from across all across the country, Ben beat fencers from Oxford, Nottingham, Lancaster, Kent and Warwick. To win the competition Ben beat Farhan Saleem from Nottingham in the semi-final 15-13 and Chris Cai from Oxford in the final, 15-5.

The Warwick tournament is the biggest novice tournament organised throughout the UK. It is a testament to the university coaching staff’s ability to coach and develop athletes of all abilities to compete and perform in BUCS matches through to National and International competitions.
