On Saturday 3rd February at Loughborough University, University of Leicester Rugby League player Munashe Fumhanda represented the South Universities Rugby League team (number 12-front row) against the North Universities team in their annual origin match.

In a very close fought first half the south university team went into half time leading. In the second half the north started to dominate possession eventually running out winners 34-16.

Post-game, Munashe commented; “It was a good experience to playing for south of England. During the game I completed a lot of defensive work with less attacking play due to the north having the majority of possession especially in the second half”.

Following last Saturday night’s game the selectors will now sit down and select an England squad.

Munashe also felt that the game on Saturday “puts me in a decent position for the upcoming professionalMunasheseason with Hemel Stags”

Munashe (pictured in his Hemel Stags polo shirt) has recently announced that he has signed a contract extension to keep him at Hemel Stags for another season.
