The festive period is behind us for another year, however the effects of a large Christmas dinner and too many chocolates are very much still with many of us. With the turn of the year we are sure that many of you will be hoping to achieve new fitness goals for 2017. So whether you simply want to take your first steps into the gym or back on the pitch, or if you’re looking to set new personal bests and take your fitness to new heights, we can help you!

Whether you are a student, a member of staff, a member of the public, alumni, or even an associate of the University you can gain access to both our state-of-the-art sports centres with our membership offers. With the Roger Bettles Sports Centre in Oadby and the Danielle Brown Sports Centre on the main University campus you can active across the city. Both centres boast a wide variety of fitness equipment, a swimming pool and luxury spa area, making them perfect for working out and relaxing as well. Our sports complexes also run a diverse range of group fitness classes designed to cater to all ages and abilities. From BODYPUMP to Yoga you experience many new ways to get active, why not even try out our new Virtual Fitness classes at the Danielle Brown Sports Centre? Our team of experienced fitness advisers can also help develop your tailored fitness plan, furthermore we can track your progress with our health check service.

Additionally your membership will also enable you to use and hire out our extensive range of sports facilities. With tennis courts, a full sized astro-turf, a 3G football pitch and a vast sports hall in Oadby you can get friends or colleagues together and start the New Year with a variety of sporting options. There is also the Charles Wilson Sports Hall on the main University campus, perfect for an active session after work or lectures.

Team Leicester

Your membership will also allow you to join any of the University’s 37 Team Leicester sports clubs. From American Football to Ultimate Frisbee you can try a whole host of sports and become part of the largest sporting community at the University, currently with over 1900 members. Only students are able to represent these clubs in national competitions, however staff and alumni are able to train and take part in friendly competitions as part of any of the Team Leicester clubs.

Social Sport

Staff and students alike are also able to take part in our Intramural Sports Leagues. With weekly fixtures in Football, Netball, Basketball and Cricket, as well as the brand new Futsal league, you can participate in sport every week at a more casual level.

Let's Do Leicester

For students and staff looking for a more relaxed route into sport you can also benefit from our Let’s Do Leicester programme. Let’s Do Leicester delivers a vast array of sports and activities at little to no cost. Most sessions are free but are otherwise a maximum of £2 allowing you to enjoy swimming, badminton, bubble football and more easily.. You won’t need a sports membership and there is no commitment so whether you want to go once a week, once a month or even once a year the choice is yours.
