Friday 9th February at 5pm sees the start of a 48 hour Squashathon organised by the University of Leicester Squash Club in conjunction with Leicester Squash Club in response to a young and talented squash player, Sumner Malik being diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Giloma (DIPG), just over a year ago.

The event sees both clubs along with other squash players who sign up attempting 48 hours of continuous squash on two courts.

The event is being held at Leicester Squash Club, 189 London Road, Leicester, LE2 1ZE, and sees both clubs working together to raise money for the Brain Tumour Charity.

Simon Taylor, former professional player ranked in the top 30 of the world, and now the University of Leicester’s coach explained that ‘there can be few more worthwhile causes that could inspire an event like this. I am so proud of the Leicester University Student Squash Club for all their effort in organising this Squashathon. I hope all who can will contribute to the cause or come to Leicester Squash Club to cheer the players on in their grueling 48 hour challenge.'

University of Leicester Squash Club Captain, Edward Peach explains; ‘this is a fantastic opportunity for the University of Leicester Squash club to give something back to the community, as well as raising money and awareness for a good cause. The bar will be open and donations on the day or via our just giving page are welcome’
