This year, University of Leicester student and Team Leicester Netball President, Mia Nembhard, (Pictured, right) was congratulated by the interview panel on her preparation and confidence during the interview process.  The panel also expressed their opinion that “it’s very clear to see how dedicated and committed you are to your role, not only within the netball club but also within your Sports Union at Leicester”

Following the conclusion of the Interview process, the panel were so impressed with Mia that they took the unusual step of awarding a runner up bursary award. Mia will receive a financial award which will be used to contribute to Mia’s continued professional development.

After receiving the news on her award, Mia commented:

“I'm so grateful to receive this bursary and would especially like to thank Bob Potter and the panel for considering my contributions to sport at university. I couldn't have been able to fulfil my aspirations for sport without the support and encouragement of the Sport and Active life department at the University of Leicester. I look forward to using my remaining time at Leicester, focussing on participation, access and mental health provisioning in sport”
