Members of staff at the Danielle Brown Sports Centre helped put on numerous charity events and activities to help raise £704.17 for Sport Relief 2016.

Staff at The Danielle Brown Sports Centre would like to say a huge thank you to all those who attended our Sport Relief charity event on Friday 18th March 2016. In the lead up to the event we sold sports bottles and shakers to members of the gym and sports teams to help get the collection going. The Friday itself consisted of a large number of challenges that both members and visitors could compete in, including a 40m swim sprint, cardDBSC Sport Relief 2016io gym challenge, crucifix strength challenge and a number of skill games such as the Netball 5 ball challenge. All challenges offered different prizes for the winners, kindly donated to us by local businesses.   Amongst all of this, the big hit of the day was the Cake Sale that took place in the sports centre reception, of which staff baked and donated a wide variety of cakes to sell in order to raise money for the event. Throughout the whole Sport relief weekend, a raffle was also run for members to have the chance to win three of the top prizes donated.

The grand total of money raised from the whole effort came in at a massive £704.17. Again, staff of the Sports and Recreation team would like to thank all those who contributed to this collection. Big thanks must also go to all of the local businesses and individuals from the university that supported our event and kindly donated prizes and promotional materials. These businesses and individuals included:

Adam King (UoL Creative Services), Extravaganza (Aarti and Ash Parmar), Sainsbury’s (Glen Road), MET-RX (Generous Donation), LCFC, The University Book Shop, Fitness Pro 247, Personal Trainers of DBSC, The Dry Dock and Clinique De Beaut

Sport Relief Mile.

Whilst we had all these fantastic events taking place on Friday 18th March, it was on Sunday 20th March that the University of Leicester played host to the Oadby and Wigston Sport Relief Mille. As over 100 runners took to the University’s Sports Grounds – Stoughton Road Playing Fields to take part in their local Sport Relief Mile.
