About us

Taekwon-Do is a traditional Korean martial art which translates as the art of the hand and foot. It's based around kicks, punches and blocks. Our training sessions consist of patterns, technique work, kick-shield work, free sparring, fixed sparring, self-defence and destruction.

We welcome anyone, whether you've practised Taekwon-Do before or are a complete beginner who fancies trying something new. Although we practice ITF style Taekwon-Do, those who have trained in WTF style are still more than welcome to join.

The club has managed to strike a delicate balance between the discipline associated with the Martial Art and a relaxed and enjoyable training atmosphere.Taekwon-Do at Leicester University (ULTKD) has existed for several years and is going from strength to strength with last year having its greatest intake of new members. Tae Kwon Do/Karate Jump

There are training sessions three times a week, all of which are run by highly skilled and approachable instructors. We also offer the opportunity to participate in many competitions throughout the year, including the yearly Varsity against local rivals DMU.

Joining ULTKD offers you the opportunity to make new friends, improve your fitness, learn a martial art and participate in a large social calendar from bar crawls to chill dinners.

As a member of this club you will be bound by the clubs Code of Practice (pdf).

In addition, there is a Code of Practice (pdf) for all Sports Association members. You will be a member of the Sports Association by virtue of membership of any sports club.
