About us

Swimming

Along with our regular morning and evening swimming and land training sessions, we compete in many local and national events including BUCS Long and Short Course in Sheffield. There is the chance for everyone to swim in competitions across the year and meet swimmers from all over the country. As well as the opportunity to get involved in our varsity swimming gala against De Montfort University at the end of the year. We also organise a most improved competition across the course of the year with the swimmer who has most improved their heat time winning FREE membership for the year!

Water Polo

Our Men’s and Women’s teams cater for all abilities with expert coaching provided all year round. There is no shortage of fixtures with the society entering both a men’s and women’s team into BUCS and Upolo leagues. We also have connections with a variety of teams around the East Midlands, providing our new members with the opportunity to play friendly matches before jumping into our major leagues.

All members of the society are encouraged to try both water polo and swimming to make the most out of their time in the club.

Social

It’s not all work and no play though, as our social secretaries ensure that there is a range of social events going on throughout the year. Including team meals, pub quiz's and nights out at the Leicester Student’s Union, often with a fancy dress theme.

So dive right in, make a splash to your new University life and get your feet wet. The Swimming and Water Polo Club really is a great way to meet new people from both Leicester as well as other clubs across the country so why not jump right in?

SWOLO Varsity
