About us

We at the ULMC are a family who regularly take part in rock climbing, bouldering and scrambling both indoors and out across the country. We run trips every other weekend to places such as the Peak District, Yorkshire and Snowdonia, as well as regular indoor sessions in Leicester and Loughborough. The trips themselves are cheap and always great fun, regardless of the weather, making sure they’re suitable for all climbing styles and abilities. Once a year we have a big trip to France’s lovely Fontainebleau for some of the world’s best bouldering too!

Indoor sessions are timetabled biweekly but if that’s not enough, many members also offer cheap transport to extra sessions throughout the year.

Voluntary competitions take place at all levels from a bit of in-club fun to BUCS. Free coaching and training is offered to those who want it too.

We run fortnightly themed socials such as our “roped-up” social and fancy dress events; as well as regular trips out together after climbing sessions.

We cater to all abilities: from the seasoned professional to those who’ve never before touched rock. All committee members are happy to answer any questions you may have, so please don’t hesitate; get in touch!

The ULMC aims to provide safe, educational and exhilarating, healthy environment in which young individuals can begin or continue developing their climbing and mountaineering skills. We aims to create a welcoming and inclusive club culture with member satisfaction at heart, striving for more club members to complete their outdoor qualifications (SPA/ML) and awards
