About us

Interested in doing something completely different? Fencing in Manor road AR

Fencing is a sport which is dynamic, and action packed, great for socialising or pushing yourself to your limit. Although we’re competitive at our core, we understand that not everyone wants to partake in the more serious side, and for those people who just fancy learning a new sport, socialising and getting some exercise, fencing welcomes all with open arms. Fencing attracts every sort of person!

We can take you as far as you want to go. Whether you want to make some new friends during and outside of training or have been fencing for years and are looking to hit a new level, we’re here to give you what you want. We have excellent links to British Fencing and other NGBs, and we have 2 excellent coaches, catering for all 3 disciplines, we offer group sessions and individual lessons.

We had a good run in the 2017-2018 season at BUCS; Our men’s 1st team competed in the Northern Premiership placing 3rd, our men's 2nd team competed in East midlands 2a and came 2nd and finally our women's team competed in Midland 1a and placed 5th. Many of our fencers compete internationally for GB and Ireland and are regularly selected for various events. We also broke a university record: gaining the highest ever Team Leicester league performance (Men’s First: 3rd in Premiership), not to mention our varsity, where the men’s and women’s teams demolished our local rivals De Montfort University 135-32 and 135-76 respectively.  Make sure to watch out for posting on our Facebook (“University of Leicester Fencing”), Instagram and Twitter (@uolfencing) to see our latest updates and successes throughout the coming year!

As a member of this club you will be bound by the clubs Code of Practice (pdf).

In addition, there is a Code of Practice (pdf) for all Sports Association members. You will be a member of the Sports Association by virtue of membership of any sports club.
