About us

Equestrian and Polo has something to offer everyone and is a mixed club, so anyone can join!

Training

Training for every level takes place at least once a week and we have three great yards that we train at:

  • Beginners and intermediate ride at Parkview. It caters for all abilities from those who have never sat on a horse before to those who are confident in walk and trot, but less so in canter. As well as lessons, hacks around the lovely Bradgate Park are also available from this yard for all riders.
  • Advanced lessons and team training is at South Leicestershire Riding Establishment. The horses here are mostly ex-eventers that may still be competing, so they are perfect for you to perfect your skills and technique on. We also use Brooksby Melton to offer extra training sessions/jumping lessons for all abilities.
  • Polo players train at Offbury Church Polo Club under the instruction of a very entertaining trainer. The horses here are perfect for all levels, from learning to play polo, to training for competitions.

Competition

We have two BUCS teams (our A team and B team) that compete on Wednesdays throughout the year, a development team that compete in development leagues against other universities and we also have a Polo team that compete in the SUPA Nationals.

Social

Throughout the year, we also organise exciting trips, such as hacks around the beautiful Leicestershire countryside, horseback archery, gymkhana or big equestrian events.

Our brilliant social secretaries will have exciting socials planned regularly. Like every sports team, we have our Wednesday night socials to the O2 complete with some fun fancy dress themes. We also have lots of non-drinking socials on different days, from takeaway nights to bowling.

We are a really friendly and inclusive club, and we hope that everyone has a great experience!

As a member of this club you will be bound by the clubs Code of Practice (pdf).

In addition, there is a Code of Practice (pdf) for all Sports Association members. You will be a member of the Sports Association by virtue of membership of any sports club.
