Students in Classrooms

Students in classrooms - Cover

A number of Departments, supported by the Widening Participation team, offer an undergraduate module option with a subject engagement focus, the experiential part of which is a school based placement.  Students undertake 30 hours in a school or college in Leicester/shire during the Spring term by visiting on a weekly basis and receive academic credit for this work.  Students are selected and trained for the role by the Widening Participation team and are supported by a Link Teacher in their placement school.  Opportunities are available in Primary, Secondary and post-16 education.

The modules are available to final year undergraduates in:

  • Maths
  • Physics
  • English
  • Archaeology
  • Geology and

Second year undergraduates in:

  • History
  • French

Students will be contacted by their Department during the academic year prior to the module with details of information session dates and how to apply.

For further information on either of these schemes, or if you are school/college interested in finding out more about hosting placements, please contact the WP Team at wpteam@le.ac.uk
