Applying for the Travel and Clothing Bursary

Please note you are able to apply for both the Travel and Clothing bursary together, however this should still total up to £150.

Guidance for Applying for Travel Support

If you are applying for the Travel bursary, you may want to read into some the criteria that we have in place to ensure you give yourself the best chance of securing the amount that you need.

What can you apply for:

Travel to:
Summer Internships
Insight Days
Professional work experience

When you are applying for this bursary, please ensure that you have a copy of the letter or email inviting you to the interview or opportunity in question. You will need this to let us know when you are looking to go and where you need to get to. This bursary can be used on train tickets or towards the transport costs to an opportunity that will be helping your professional development. Please ensure that you have an opportunity secured / interview lined up before you apply to this bursary.

Guidance for Applying for Clothing Support

You can apply for this bursary if your current work wardrobe is looking a little empty or is non-existent for any of the reasons for the Travel bursary. If you would like to apply for this bursary you will need to have an opportunity secured that you would use these for.

You can apply for the Clothing bursary if you need it for:

Summer Internships
Insight Days
Professional work experience
Clinical wear for placements* (Medicine Students Only)

As with the Travel bursary you will need to provide us with details on what opportunity you intend to use the money for.

Applying for a Society Committee Member Bursary

If you are applying for this you will need to be elected onto a Students' Union affliated student society. You will already be on a signatory list so we can check that you are on a committee - so please ensure all documentation is handed in on time. We will ask for some proof of the meeting or activity you would like to be engaged in and how this fits into your role that you hold.
For example if you are the kit secretary for hockey and were instructed to pick up the items from the warehouse as you were the only one in the country - you could apply for funding for this.

You can apply for up to £50 for this particular bursary. You need to be a current student at the University and on a student group committee rather than just a member of a society.

Other important information

Details of whether you have been successful in your application will be sent to you via email or phone call. How you can claim the bursary will also be detailed to you in the acceptance email.

The applications will be viewed on a weekly basis and decisions will be made on Thursdays. Please do feel free to get in touch with us if you have any questions about your applications.
