Leicester OnTrack

The opportunities on offer as part of the Leicester OnTrack programme aim to support you in making the most of your time with us at Leicester. Whether your priority is securing part time work and internships, accessing leadership opportunities in your chosen society or making sure you are confident when telling employers exactly what you have to offer them, we will be on hand to point you in the right direction of the support available to get you there.

Eligibility criteria

The University of Leicester is proud of its commitment to ensuring those from disadvantaged backgrounds can fully access and engage with higher education. As part of our actions to enhance social mobility, the University of Leicester has developed a number of activities targeted at current students that seeks to address socio-economic inequalities.

The Leicester OnTrack programme is available to our students who meet one of the following four criteria:

  1. Live in a neighbourhood with low young participation in higher education (quintiles 1 or 2 in POLAR3 young participation) AND live in a neighbourhood with the highest levels of multiple indices of deprivation (IMD categories 1,2 or 3)
  2. Mature students (students starting their undergraduate degrees ages 21+)
  3. Young Carers or Care Leavers
  4. Participants of the following programmes: Leicester Enhanced Access Programme (LEAP); Realising Opportunities (RO); MedLEAP: Pathways to Law or Medicine with Foundation Year

Click ‘Get deprivation data’, download the excel (xlsx) spreadsheet, locate ‘Index of Multiple Deprivation Decile’ (column ‘F’). You are eligible for Leicester OnTrack if this number is 1, 2 or 3.
