Resources for handbook editors

Essential resources for all members of staff involved in creating and updating student handbooks for taught programmes.

Your Student Handbook must be published online on Blackboard. To make handbooks consistent, the University introduced standards for the layout, font and heading styles. If you produce a Student Handbook in Word you must use the template.

What has changed this year?

  • Compliance with accessibility legislation - for accessibility, you will publish the original Word document on Blackboard, not a PDF
  • There is a new front page which you will use. The front page will be inserted into the Word document (see guide and video on Blackboard)
  • Before you publish, you must run the accessibility checker and resolve any issues (see guide and video on Blackboard)
  • Training is provided online (see details below)

Word editors
