The Safety Services Office forms part of the Estates and Facilities Management Division but retains a direct reporting line to the Registrar for Health and Safety matters.

The office consists of a director, administrator and five officers each with their own areas of safety expertise. Activities of the office include:

  • Provision of expert advice and information on health and safety issues to University senior management, Heads of College, Heads of Department and other University staff
  • Monitoring of health and safety performance
  • Provision of health and safety training for managers and staff
  • Maintenance of records to meet statutory requirements
  • Liaison with relevant enforcing authorities
