Session Overview

The session is for those new to supervision, as well as for those who are experienced PhD supervisors, but are new to Leicester. It will explore the current landscape for research degrees and Leicester's position in it, and will provide an introduction to both research supervision and the specific regulatory context in Leicester. Case studies will help highlight potential pitfalls in the supervisory process. It will also provide an overview of the support systems available at the University of Leicester.

Aimed At Academic and Research Staff

Prof Dave Lambert is a Professor of Anaesthetic Pharmacology. He trained as a biologist before completing his PhD in diabetes research. He made the post-doctoral switch to pharmacology at Leicester where he has spent his career to date researching opioids (analgesics), supervising research students and teaching at all levels. Dave is the Grants Officer for the National Institute for Academic Anaesthesia. He has been awarded the Humphrey Davy medal, was elected Chair of the Board of the British Journal of Anaesthesia and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists.
