Building and Understanding your Transferable Skills

Session Overview

Delegates will learn to:

  • unpack the key transferable skills for post PhD employment;
  • be aware of the transferable skills they require;
  • be aware of the transferable skills they possess;
  • have had an opportunity to explore their  employment strengths and areas for development;
  • have developed their ability to communicate what they can do for an employer, and how well they do it.

Early Career Researchers, Post Docs, Research Staff

Martin Coffey delivers careers and employability provision to postgraduate research students across the three colleges of the University, working from college-specific employability strategies. Provision includes a PhD internship programme and career and enterprise skills training, both face-to-face and online. He facilitates sector-specific employer events and one-to-one career consultations. Provision extends to University staff as and when required.
