Finding Funding

RED has produced a series of Funder Guides, listing key calls, schemes and opportunities relevant to the College of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities (to access these documents, university login is required).

College Research Development Fund

The College has a fund to develop research. Full details of criteria and how to apply are here.

College Research Impact Development Fund

Colleagues are invited to apply for the new CSSAH Research Impact Development Fund, which supports activities that will enhance the reach and significance of research impact. Please see this guidance for further information on the fund and the eligibility criteria.

College Research Grantwriting Fund

The College has now published guidance for a Research Grantwriting Fund, designed to support the development of ambitious (in both scale and excellence) funded research projects.

Designing Your Research Project

There is full online information about planning your project.

If you would like help to design your project, including talking through how the project will work devising a project plan and budget please contact:

  • Alan Ashton-Smith (Starts 4th September) for larger research projects (eg Research Councils, Leverhulme Trust, Wellcome Trust).
  • Jonathan Sheen for smaller research projects (eg British Academy Small Grants, Rising Star Awards, smaller Leverhulme grants)
  • Victoria Hayward for European Union funded projects
  • Di Levine for ODA-related funding opportunities, projects, compliance and impact
  • Clare Hudson for other projects

Costing your Research Project

We use some software called LUCRE to cost out your project once you know what you will need. This is done in your Department, so please speak to your Departmental research contact about completing the LUCRE costing for your research project.
