Fortnight of events from 23 October to 3 November set to encourage investment and business growth throughout Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland

The University of Leicester is proud to be supporting the Leicester Business Festival 2017, which takes place across Leicestershire and Rutland from 23 October to 3 November, including great events led by the University of Leicester at venues across the City.

The Leicester Business Festival aims to promote businesses throughout the region, drive inward investment, and catalyse economic growth by providing a platform to promote business which is run by business, partners and supporters who take the lead in setting the agenda, collectively organising and hosting the events.

The fortnight long festival will comprise a wide variety of events including conferences, exhibitions, trade fairs, talks, webinars and excellent networking opportunities.

As in previous years, this year the University of Leicester is delivering six events created to appeal to business as highlighted below:

  • Meet your local Innovation neighbours, at the Leicester Innovation Hub at 7 Salisbury Road LE1 7QR – 24 October at 12.30 pm
  • Opening Doors with Your Local University, at College Court & Leicester Conference Centre – 25 October at 8.30 am
  • Space2Invest, at DOCK Leicester – 25 October at 10 am
  • The Power of Cooperation, at University of Leicester Ken Edwards Building – 25 October at 5.30pm
  • Innovate in 100 Days, at College Court & Leicester Conference Centre –  31 October at 8.30 am
  • Building customer relationships, delivering value and articulating benefits in the age of distance, at College Court & Leicester Conference Centre – 2 November at 8.30 am

The events above provide companies an ideal opportunity to meet and pitch for investment, learn how they can access fully funded innovation support and how the University works with SMEs.

The University of Leicester was well represented in the festival last year, with events including a coaching session on how to understand and communicate effectively with Chinese students by Dr Giovanna Puppin from the School of Media, Communication and Sociology, and even a member of staff taking part in and winning the 2016 stand-up comedy challenge.

Stephan Reiff-Marganiec, Director of the Leicester Innovation Hub said: “I am really pleased that we have the opportunity to support Leicester and Leicestershire businesses through the Leicester Business Festival.  We want to play a leading role in driving the knowledge economy locally through the application of our research and academic expertise to drive innovation and incubating technology businesses.

“We look forward to welcoming businesses to the Innovation Hub and supporting our fantastic businesses to reach new heights.”

Anjuu Trevedi, Head of Regional Business Engagement at the University of Leicester said: “We are delighted to be supporting and engaging with the Leicester Business Festival, which provides an excellent opportunity to meet and talk to hundreds of likeminded individuals and businesses.

“I am personally looking forward to welcoming entrepreneurs and innovators to the Leicester Innovation Hub on the 24 October and attending numerous events across the city and county to showcase our innovation offer and starting new conversations with potential partners interested in innovation and R&D.”
